… and got new furniture, and everything! If you haven’t visited the website since last week, then you totally missed all the excitement! We moved the blog from Blogger to a WordPress platform and a new server, and we even gave the blog a whole new look! There’s even a new logo and our very own favicon! (See the cute little TH up there on the tab.) I’m really trying hard not to put an exclamation mark at the end of every sentence, but I’m really excited!
Even though I changed the name of the blog from Homegrown and Handmade to Thrifty Homesteader four years ago, the URL was still homegrownandhandmadethebook.com. I quickly figured out that no one liked that URL because it was so crazy long, so I got thriftyhomesteader.com, and it would automatically redirect. Now the tables are switched. If you have an old link and click on it, it should automatically redirect you to the same blog post on the new thriftyhomesteader.com site.
Like a lot of moves, I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time. I knew I’d outgrown my old blogging platform, but leaving the familiar can be scary. As with any move, there is always the possibility that things are going to break or that you won’t love your new home as much as you thought you would. Well, I’m happy to say that nothing broke, and I’m loving the new place. There are a few things that need adjusting, but that’s not a big deal.
Now that we’re done with the big move, I can get back to actually writing blog posts, taking pictures, and even doing webinars.
